Last minute AONE3 - Help needed

Hi folks,

I was about to book a BA CW ticket LHR-IAD when I realised that I could get a RTW fare in First for considerably less ex-KRT and for about the same money ex-CAI. This is crazy and as I have some time to kill I was thinking of bagging it and trying to get to Gold BAEC at the same time.

So can anybody suggest a great itinerary that maximises tier points (i.e. flights in F over 2,000 miles)?

At present I was thinking something like:

KRT-AMM-VIE-LHR (routing suggested by OW for KRT-LHR)-IAD-SFO-JFK-ORD-LAX-SYD-HKG-LHR-KRT

Any better suggestions?

A few initial thoughts:
You have included SYD, so your routing is an AONE4. EUR-NA-SWP-ASIA-EUR
You have two cross-country segments in the US, only one is permitted.
Code:

(l) Within the USA/Canada only one nonstop or single plane service transcontinental flight permitted. A transcontinental flight is defined as travel between a city in column A and a city in column B.
Page 4 of 9 Rule 3015
COLUMN A                                  COLUMN B
Baltimore MD                              Las Vegas
Boston MA                                  Los Angeles CA
Ft Lauderdale FL                        Oakland CA
Hartford CT                                Portland OR
Miami FL                                    San Diego CA
Newark NJ                                San Francisco CA
New York NY                              San Jose CA
Orlando FL                                Seattle
Philadelphia PA                          Vancouver, BC
San Juan PR                              Santa Ana, CA
Toronto ON                                Long Beach, CA
Washington DC
Additionally, only one flight to Anchorage (ANC) and one flight from Anchorage (ANC) permitted.

How are you planning to get from LHR to KRT? There is currently no single plane service and you cannot yet use the BMI service thru BEY.

In NA most people try to work in either JFK-YVR on CX or JFK-LAX, the 3 class Flagship service on AA. AA also offers 3 class service on a few other domestic routes. Any AA two class service in NA, other than the Caribbean, will also give F tier points for BAEC.

AONE3 from KRT is $5742.
AONE3 from CAI is $8430.

Thanks Jerry for the help, especially pointing out the problem with

A friend has advised me to fly LHR-LAX and then back track across the US to maximise the time in F. So I'm not sure whether LHR-JFK then onwards is better or not?

My personal aims are:

(1) Try a variety of top airlines in F including BA, AA, CX and QF.
(2) Maximise tier points on BAEC rather than miles per se. So must maximise the number of segments over 2,000 miles in F.
(3) Do so as cheaply as possible so to start at at cheap starting point.

Will do a bit more research online.

Try to stick with CX F, QF A380 F, BA F and finally AA F. The first two are stellar.

KRT-AMM-LHR-IAD-DFW-ANC-DFW-YVR-(CX F)-JFK-(CX F)-HKG-(CX F)-DPS-(CX F)-HKG-(QF A380 F Thu-Sun)-SYD-(QF A380 F)-LHR-AMM-KRT.

That's 9 x 2000+ mile F segments.

Are you actually planning on doing some fun activities during your travel? If so drop the DFW between ANC and YVR and do an open jaw and book a 7-day cruise from ANC to YVR. If you enjoy fishing there is some great halibut and salmon fishing up in Alaska. Denali National Park and Mt McKinley are also a nice 2-3 day trip by train out of Anchorage. The Asiago crusted Halibut Cheeks at Simon and Seafort's in Anchorage is a must IMO.

The only way you can use QF F and not have the trip become an AONE4 is on SIN-LHR.

When are you seeing F on HKG-DPS? I'm looking through EF and don't see it anymore, but maybe I'm missing some months. Only intra-Asia CX F sectors I'm seeing are HKG-SIN and HKG-HND on some flights, neither >2000mi.

I didn't check EF. I did a cursory check of CX Fleet Info at http://flyerguide.com/wiki/index.php..._Info_%28CX%29

Now that I look again, I noticed that I overlooked the following note:

Note: CTS and DPS is classified as 2-class destination. The F cabin is open for elite J class passengers but will have J class service.

My bad. 7 x 2000+ miles in F

Can I use the BA8052 and BA8053 LHR-TBS-LHR flights on an AONE5 (I know there is only biz available and no first).

Thanks.

No
They are BA codeshare flights on BD metal, and so not allowed to be part of an xONEx itinerary

Not for now, but definately a chance in the near future. BA is in the process of migrating over BD FLTs to be BA FLTs, and once it is migrated over (once the BD FLT number no longer exists) you can use it in OW products. Check the migration update here.

These flights no longer have BD flight numbers....only a BA flight number.

Until BA announces that they are fully integrated I doubt that they will be available for booking as part of an xonex.
From oneworld.com:

Nine bmi routes from its London Heathrow hub will have their current BD flight code and number replaced with BA codes in the initial phase, on 23 May, bringing them into oneworld. So these services will offer the alliance's full range of services and benefits from then.
. . .
Further bmi routes will be changed over to BA code in the coming weeks - moving them also into oneworld.

All these services will continue to operate for now from and to bmi's London Heathrow Terminal 1 base, with no changes to their departure or arrival times. Customers will be able to check-in for these routes via ba.com

In the coming months the exterior and interior design of bmi's aircraft, as well as the on board experience, will gradually transform into BA's style.
ba.com has been listing BD flights/destinations as they are permanently integrated into the BA network:

The TBS FLT still has BD FLT number.

The FLIFO of thess FLTs also differs from, say, that of FLTs to AGA (one of the destinations mentioned in the OW press release), in that OW is not mentioned while BD's FLT numbers are still mentioned as the operating FLT numbers.

Hi guys

Back again. Well I didn't do the RTW for my recent trip to the US but I did BA F out and BA J back.

I'm now looking at the RTW with my wife in October-December as I have sabbatical. Our goals are roughly the same:

(1) Maximise time/distance in F for both tier points and experience
(2) Try CX, QA, BA and AA in F.
(3) We want to visit EUR (we live near LHR), NA, Asia and SWP.

Other factors to consider:
(1) We want to bank points in BAEC but avoid BA fuel surcharges
(2) Start as cheaply as possible to ideally KRT
(3) My wife really wants to visit MEL (to see friends) YVR.
(4) I'd like to visit ANC but appreciate it may not be possible

I have a few questions:

- Is ANC unavailable in October? If so what are other good mileage runs in the US? We'd ideally like to spend some time in major cities.
- Will the BD service LHR-BEY-KRT be available in October on BA? It suggests so on their website but is unavailable in the OW Explorer tool.
- I'm struggling with working out the best routings in Europe/Middle East. I think the rules allow a return trip to MCT and a return trip to Sudan but I could be mistaken.

At present my routing is looking like:

(assuming the single BA flight no. on BD works) KRT-LHR-LAX-YVR-JFK-DFW-SFO-SYD-MEL-HKG-SIN-LHR-MCT-LHR-KRT

Help please?

Yes, AA's flights to ANC are seasonal. They stop at the end of September. AS flights are not available on the Oneworld Explorer ticket, only the Global Explorer which is mileage limited.

The BD flights won't be available to book on any oneworld ticket until they change over to BA. I don't think that happens until the end of October.

If you're starting in Europe/Middle East, you have a limited amount of stopovers there (one stopover outbound, one inbound) and only 4 sectors in Europe/Middle East total.

At present my routing is looking like:

(assuming the single BA flight no. on BD works) KRT-LHR-LAX-YVR-JFK-DFW-SFO-SYD-MEL-HKG-SIN-LHR-MCT-LHR-KRT

Help please?
You can't do LAX-YVR on a Oneworld Explorer as it is an AS route.
There is no oneworld flight SFO-SYD. There is DFW-SYD (via BNE), but does not have first class.
SYD-HKG has first class on the days it is operated by an A380.
MEL-HKG doesn't have First.
You have too many sectors in Europe and too many LHR-middle east flights. You can only have two flights to/from LHR and ALBANIA, ALGERIA, BOSNIA
& HERZEGOVINA, BULGARIA, CROATIA, CYPRUS, GREECE, ISRAEL, LIBYA,
MALTA, MIDDLE EAST, MOROCCO, ROMANIA, RUSSIA, SERBIA, TUNISIA, TURKEY, UKRAINE.
eg, I can do AMM-MAD-LHR-DXB-LHR, but I can't do AMM-LHR-MCT-AUH-LHR or AMM-LHR-DXB-LHR

I would look at doing KRT-AMM-ORD-DFW-YVR-JFK-ORD/DFW-LAX-MEL-SYD-HKG-SIN-LHR-MCT-AMM-KRT This limits BA fuel taxes and has one more flight available to use in either SWP, Asia or North America.
