Flybe Nordic to take over many AY routes
Flybe Nordic, the joint venture between UK regional carrier Flybe (BE) and Finnair (AY), will take on about one-third of the Finnish flag-carrier’s European services to cut costs and improve its financial position. From Oct. 28, Flybe Nordic will operate AY’s 12 Embraer E-190 regional jets on a range of AY’s short-haul sectors, taking advantage of the joint venture company’s lower cost base. This would affect a fairly large number of current AY destinations such as WAW, MAN, GVA... Of course it will remain to be seen how this affects Oneworld products such as RTWs. |
Bad news unless Flybe will join oneworld.
Good news if Finnair could be saved from invissible bankruptcy.. |
There's a thread on this over at Finnair Plus forum:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/finna...n-network.html At least until now the Finnair AY3??? flights operated by Flybe have been treated like Finnair's own flights e.g. re: points. I guess this would mean that they will be exactly like Finnair flights in other aspects as well? |
