Quickest way to Oneworld Ruby?
 
Any suggestions for the quickest way to Oneworld ruby? I have four Cathay long haul sectors coming up, and I note that ruby gives you free advance seat selection, which would be convenient.

So whats the quickest/cheapest/easiest way to get it?

Do you have any status already? You might be able to get a status match if you do, but otherwise, you are not going to be able to without doing some significant flying before the trip.

If the sectors goes to ORD or JFK, then it would be more than 30000mi, which qualifies for CX MPO SL (OW RBY).

If you're in the UK you can sign up for the UK AMEX Platinum Card... that will get you Gold status w/ Cathay (OW Sapphire). But that costs £450. You can probably do it cheaper and quicker with flights, but not sure that's easier (depends on how much time you have, etc.)
