Mexicana finally gone.

I see after nearly 2 years OneWorld has finally removed Mexicana (and Malev) from its website.
At least their logos from the home page - there are still links from the member airline page.

They did that when they added the airberlin logo. They are listed as "inactive members".

And the good news: AB is in, MH is coming...

:)

The irony is that MX sounds like it might actually very shortly return. Apparently money has even been left on deposit to fund the venture.

They seem to have been on the brink of returning ever since they went bust, at one point last year they even had announced the routes that were due to resume, finally to no avail. Still got my refund request forms for 3 rtn C-class on MEX-MTY and hoping I can ever get a refund (highly unlikely, I know)...

Yes, the latest investors "seem" to be serious about getting things running again. If AA wasn't in the middle of their own bankruptcy, I would say they needed to become an investor in MX.

Even if it does return, the chances of it rejoining oneworld are slim, IMHO.

Kind of reminds me of the Varig situation with Star Alliance.

The difference, other than the skeleton operation operated by GOL, is that Varig never actually came back.

If MX comes back, they will most certainly join OneWorld. I imagine that they will initially come back as an associate member thus avoiding the larger costs of being a full member. American and BA will definitely want MX back in alliance.

They wouldn't have to 'join' oneworld. MX is still a member. They are listed on everything as an inactive member. Just because their logo is no longer on the websites header doesn't mean that they aren't a member.

MX is still in OW (albeit an inactive member), thus no need to join again. Of course MX and OW would need to sort out a lot of things before it can restart. OW does not have "associate membership" so MX would still be a full member if it starts operation again unless it decides to leave.

Thanks for the clarification ^
