No baggage priority on qantas

I've fly quite a bit on Qantas, BA and other 'partners' but today at Sydney i was told that there is no baggage priority for non Qantas club members. I was pretty shocked as this is the very easiest of benefits to grant. I questioned it and she was pretty insistent. In face she even said "i can put it on, but the baggage handlers will pull it off and put the bag with economy anyway because of the bar code" - weird
Its a shame because its these little things (saving 20 minutes at baggage collection) that make one world worth it. i don't need to fly qantas and they've just made it very easy for me.
for the record from HK on Qantas there was no such conversation, and have never had it on any other partner (AA, JAL, Dragon, BA).

A replied to in your crossposted thread....

there is nothing for them to explain. They are correct that there is no priority baggage handling benefit for OW status

Very unfortunate, since AA gives priority tags to all OW elites (including Ruby!) as a matter of policy, and CX and others consistently give priority tags in practice. But this is my QF experience as well, no priority tags. OW simply has no official baggage benefit, either in excess allowance or priority tagging, unlike the other two alliances.

Do they? I flew 4 segments with AA 2 weeks ago as a LANPASS Sapphire and didn't get squat. It isn't as if they didn't have the status in the system either because when I asked to make sure my FF number was applied to my ticket (didn't show on the boarding pass) she stamped my boarding pass with "Gold Lane" so that I could jump the other line that had errrr... no people in it.

I am not complaining, whenever I have priority tags on my bags I am sure they come out last. Conversely I was so happy with AA baggage handling that I sent them a compliment email.

Unfortunate, because priority bags is one of the quiet but "real" benefits of status. If you don't fly a lot of connecting flights but have to check a bag regularly (presentation stuff, technical equipment, etc.), priority baggage is actually a better benefit than lounge access.

I haven't seen AA give priority baggage handling based on status

See my reply to your post on the same issue in the Qantas Forum.

FYI
For JL's domestic flight from HND, a (probably untrained) checkin agent put a priority tag for may bag. Only once.
Other than that case, JL's agents correctly didn't put priority tags on my bag.
Some agent consulted manual and double checked the rule, even I didn't make any request.

Yes, indeed.

QF ground handling in HKG is actually performed by CX (CX staff in QF uniforms), and considering CX standard (as above), check-in staff at HKG would probably attach priority tags. Other stations I guess would offer only the minimum oneworld benefits, in which there is no policy on priority tags for partner elites.

I've gotten priority tags about 90% of the time since I reached Ruby. As to the bags actually being priority... that's hit and miss. They seem to come out in the first batch about 85% of the time in Asian ports, 70% in European ports, and 50% in US/AUS ports.
