Need help with RTW
Hi,
As part of the new travel policy, we are required to book all trips through our corporate travel agents.. I am doing a RTW trip and booked through Corp travel. The agent booked using CX stocks. Corporate Policy is trip is in Business. I would like to upgrade to F, at my own cost. However, this cannot be handle by Corporate.. Call CX and they told me that because it is done by travel agent, they cant do anything until after the first segment is completed.. and once trip has started one cannot change the class of service.. Is there anything I can do? |

For example the OneWorld Explorer has this rule: 16(c)(2) A Business class oneworld Explorer fare may be upgraded to a higher tiered or First class oneworld Explorer fare without fee. A point to note it that the number of F cabins has been decreasing over time - so it might be wise for you to check the availability of F on the flights you will be taking |
I assume you are now on a DONEx.
This are the fare rules - check for the paragraph with the headline UPGRADING I believe you can do this during travel. [KVS Availability Tool 6.5.1/Diamond - DotRes: HKG-HKG/CX/DONE3/9976 USD] Code:
[Rule Application & Other Conditions] |
Thanks. I will try to upgrade on day of departure at airport since my first segment is long haul.

There is zero chance of getting it done at the airport prior to departure of the first sector. The TA still controls the ticket until the first sector is flown :) After the first sector, you can pay the AONEx differential (no discount for missing out on the sector). The only solution would be to modify the routing to have a short first sector, with a long transit or better yet a stopover, to give time to re-ticket after flying the first sector. Maybe upgrading to F isn't such a good idea for the OP's circumstances.
