Which account to use for which trip?

Hello fellow FT friends. Mrs. travelinterpreters and I have accumulated a descent amount of miles between AA ( 500,000 ) and BA (225,000) along with 335,000 Capital one "miles" or points, whatever they call them. Anyway, we are planning on a few trips and are not sure how to maximize the miles in each account.

Here is what we are looking at. Our home airport is MCI, but if it really helps, we dont mind flying/driving to ORD or DFW to be able to use the BA one partner award. We will need three economy seats for each trip. We are looking to do four seperate trips to: LHR, BKK, CUZ, and CNS.

I really dont know which account to use for which trip???? Especially using those CAp One miles, since it goes by how much the flight itself costs, I was thinking about using it for the LHR since that fare was in the $750 range.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

AA miles would be better for all of these trips. If you were willing to fly to Lima or Bolivia on AA (and then get to CUZ on a separate ticket), you could use BA miles economically for the AA flights.

On trips to Europe, Asia, and Australia, you will pay hefty fuel surcharges if you redeem BA miles.

Thanks, i appreciate it! Could you point me to a link that I could learn a bit more about the fuel surcharges ( YQ is that the right acronmy?). Are the surcharges really high if I use the BA miles on like JAL?

Thanks again.

You can do a test award booking at ba.com, and see the total taxes and fees. If you then click on the adjacent icon, you will see a breakdown of the taxes/fees.
