which prog. the best for ......?
If you can transfer 420k miles from an intern. AMEX $ card into one of the following progs. CX / BA / IB / ( MH ), which one is the best prog. if one want to redemm business/first Europe<> USA and Europe<> China/HKG ?
Any other sugestions to transfer via a 3rd. party are also welcomed. But it def. should be oneworld, to use on BA/CX , because *aliance I have million of miles. |
Don't transfer to IB! You will get the least value for your miles.
Comparisons: BA: Europe - USA C = 100k F = 150k Europe - China/HKG C = 160k F = 240k CX CX is done by mileage so here are some examples (red = 1 carrier. blue = 2 or more carriers): LHR-JFK: C = 80k F = 120k C = 80k F = 105k LHR-ORD: C = 80k F = 120k C= 85k F= 115k LHR-LAX: C = 120k F = 180k C = 115k F = 155k For rewards to China/HKG: LHR-HKG/China C = 120k F = 180k C = 115k F = 155k MH Since it is not part of *A yet we can't really speculate how good the burning will be. But you may be able to take guesses based upon their own mileage system: Europe - KUL - HKG/China C = 102k To me it looks as though CX is your best choice! :) |
You also need to consider what $$ you will pay in surcharges. MH surcharges are high IIRC

Thanks for your quotation.
Most travel is UK-MIA/TPA/PLS ( would be on BA solely ) And UK-HKG, which could be on BA/CX or QF. Now I cover this by BMI and China with the USair miles on LH first. So I want to transfer the AMEX points to a oneworld, to choose from them, even thought availability is more worse. The best would be AA, but IDC issued in UK has no option to transfer to AA.
