LON-SYD - which B747?

So, I'm considering flying to Sydney in few months. Qantas A380 is my preference, but on return leg we might have to choose B747 (we can find better ways to use 1000 EUR :)). My question is simple: which B747 should we take - BA or Qantas? We'd be in business class.

Thanks ;)

Definitely 120% BA.
Purely based on the fact that Qantas bed is the slopy one and BA has a proper bed with more space overall.

Another vote for BA ^

A vote for the Skybeds on Qantas - the BA seats are 1) narrower- especially at the feet, and 2) slope slightly with the aircraft angle of incidence so that one's shoulders are below the level of one's heels when trying to sleep.

YMMV

Any particular reason you're not considering CX from HKG?

If you can't get A380 on Qantas, then definitely BA on 747, try to get the upper deck.

BA fully flat, more private. Qantas Skybed Mk 1 angled-lie flat, so any talk about BA being sloping compared to Qantas on 747 (at the moment) is nonsense.

The only reason to pick Qantas 747 over BA 747 is if you are so big the BA seats feel narrow, but even then, the aisle ones on the new Club World (which is on all 747s and 777s now) are still preferable to sliding down on the Qantas 747.

Of course if you COULD get the brand new CX business class (via HKG) that would be better still, but you don't get it on 747s which operate all but one service into LHR at the moment. The existing herringbone CX business class product is fully lie flat, but by far the narrowest of the OneWorld options available.

Rubbish. BA seats ARE sloped, they are parallel to the aircraft floor, but the aircraft itself is flying at an angle. The angle of incidence is NOT zero degrees, so the seat itself is at an angle. If in one of the forward facing seats, your head will be below your feet. Ok if you are in a backward facing seat though.

Having flown on both BA and QF in J, and as somewhat who CANNOT sleep on aircraft (I can, however, doze, for 20 mins here, 30 mins there) I prefer QF over BA, the seat is far more comfortable in seat mode (which is what I use it for) and I can doxe far more effectively on QF than I can on BA. The soft product - catering and so on - is infinitessemilly better on QF as well.

Of course, YMMV.
