DONEx Ticket Validity

I'm half way through a ticket at the moment but I need to change the remaining flights to next year... It's an AA issued ticket (if that makes any difference)...

QF told me the ticket is valid for one year from the first flight, but they couldn't change it because it's an AA ticket. (QF actually thought it's 12 months from issue date as well, but she double checked and said it's 12 months from first flight.)

AA told me it's only valid for one year from the issue date.

Who's right?

From the FAQ here, it seems to me QF is right. This is the closest I can find in relation to this topic.

Just ring AA again and if necessary quote the rule
QF can in fact change an AA-issued ticket (they did it for my LONE4 a couple of years ago) - but you will be charged the QF service fee (IIRC AUD60 per person)

Revenue ticket is one year from travel date.

Award tickets on some airlines is one year from date of issue.

PS - of course QF can change your ticket. Any OW member can.. if they want to , that's all. You do not have to go back to AA to get your ticket reissued.

The specific rule for xONEx is that first flight must be within 1 year of issue date, and last flight within 1 year of the first fllight (or as long as 2 years from issue date); this sometimes confuses some Aagents :)

While any OW airline can reissue any OW ticket, they are not required to, and can insist that the issuing airline do the reissue. Sometimes it is a lot of work for them to do a reissue, hence the reluctance to do it (the tax recalculation alone is daunting). The poor interfaces between QF and AA systems is probably a contributing factor to QF reluctance to touch AA (along with there often being irregularities in existing AA OWE tickets).
