Tom Bradley lounge question

I am flying QF from lAX to SYd but want to use the KE lounge .

Both from Tom Bradley terminal but as they depart from opposite piers is it possible to access the lounge once you are through security or do you need to clear security for the QF side and seperately for the KE side .

I guess what I am asking is it poss to pass from one pier to the other in Tom bradley easliy

Thanks

QF & KE lounges

Both QF & KE lounges may be accessed after you clear security at Tom Bradley; however, unless you have some special privilege with KE you would not normally be allowed to access the KE lounge since you are not flying with a Skyteam carrier

The lounges are on floors 4 and 5 on both sides of the terminal. there is a walkway on the ground floor (where the bus gates have been before) where you can get from one side of the terminal to the other.
You can look on which side the lines thru security are shorter and then go to the other side after security. Just follow the signs for the other gates past security.

Good luck on trying to enter the KE lounge on 4F using Priority Pass. On 3 different occasions when trying to enter that lounge around 10 pm, I've been refused entry with PP because lounge was too full. Many flights must be leaving LAX TBIT for Asia late at night and using KE Biz lounge.

Oh, i was thinking of using this lounge when flying with Lufthansa to Munich. Flight departs at 9.10 pm. So, do you think that by 8 pm this Skyteam lounge will be ok ti use Pirority Pass cards?
We are flying LH with award Business and First class tickets but i just read somewhere that the Staralliance lounge only takes revenue passengers! Did not know that!

Thanks for any info!

Next time before trying to gain access to this KE lounge at TBIT, I guess what I would do is ask Priority Pass, what exactly are the rights of a PP cardholder in a situation like this? Is PP on bottom of totem pole? Or can we insist on entry?

If no rights, then I guess you just take your chances, or try to see how many KE flights there are in evenings out of LAX, and see if earlier times can get you into KE lounge.

You might suggest to PP to find another lounge to get an arrangement with at LAX.

AFAIK the *A lounge certainly accepts award pax. There is nothing in the rules which would allow them to reject I or O class bookings.

I had that understanding as well until i saw this from the *A website:

You'll find a warm welcome at all Star Alliance member airline lounges, as well as at Star Alliance own lounges. Below you will find details of how to access the lounges and, as an extra benefit, many lounges allow you to bring a guest with you.

International First Class Customers: Customers have access to International First Class1 and/or any Star Alliance member carriers' own lounges.

Customer must present a boarding pass for travel in International First Class on a Star Alliance flight
Customer must be departing from the local airport in International First Class
Customer must be a revenue customer
Customer is entitled to one guest

Wow, I didn't know that. And it doesn't make a lot of sense as often the lounge attendant will not be able to tell which booking class the customer is booked in. I have never been rejected from a lounge because I was on an award flight but I guess there is a first time for anything.

In this case "Revenue Customer" relates to travel paid with using Money or points/miles awards rather than Staff travel or ID90 type travel.

See this *A thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/star-...l#post12308642

Also see StarAlliance Guide linked to below¹, page #141:

Revenue ticket/customer: All customers excluding airline staff. Customers travelling on discounted fares, frequent flyer award tickets or upgrades are considered revenue customers and are included as revenue customers. Airline employees flying on free or service charge tickets, or Industry Discount e.g., ID50, ID75, ID90) tickets are not considered revenue customers;

No problem to use the Star lounge at LAX on an LH or LX award ticket in F. But be warned: even the F section is not really special.

Cool! Good to know that an award ticket is considered "revenue" ticket!

Oh, I was wondering which one will be a better lounge then. The *A or the SkyTeam.

How do they divide the *A lounge for Fisrt and Business class?? We are going to be 3 of us. One flying First and two flying Business. Two different front desks?

Thanks for your input!

Star lounge has a shared front desk, then two entrances: left is F, right is C. The F part is much smaller - looks like you need either a special invitation or a F boarding pass to get into the F side. The showers/restrooms in the back are shared between C and F.
