Help - BA ticket booked twice due to web error
I recently booked a ticked online for a flight from LGW to EDI (travelling this w/e 14th Nov). There was a BA systems problem when I attempted to book initially at the confirm stage and I received a message to say that BA were unable to complete the booking. I was returned to the flight selection section which I reentered and completed the booking second time. I was only able to check my emails this weekend and discovered I had in fact got 2 tickets for this flight. I phoned Customer Services this morning fully expecting that they would see this was clearly an error due to the failure of the BA system and would cancel and fully refund one of the flights. I was horrified when advised that I could cancel online and get a refund of the taxes only. This has only happened to me once previously with Ryanair who once I had managed to get through to someone (not easy I know) immediately refunded one of the tickets in full. I am amazed that BA will not do the same. The rep said I should have contacted them within 24 hours but said I was unable to check my emails until last weekend. I have been advised to raise this with Customer Relations as a point of escalation but the rep said she didn't think I would have success that route either. Has anyone had a similar problem and if so can you advise how I can get a full refund for what is clearly an unintended double booking due to a systems problem.
