Luggage allowance on codeshare flight
Hi All,
I'm traveling one way from LON to MEL. I see that BA's excess luggage allowance for one extra bag is extremely competitive. However, this is a code share flight as BA don't fly direct to MEL from LHR so I will be going on a Qantas flight. Their policy however, is not as good as BA's. If I bought the ticket on BA and paid for the excess baggage online through BA (if this is possible) will Qantas have to accept the fact that I've paid for the baggage? Or do I have to go along with Qantas' policy? |
BA.com covers this in detail http://www.britishairways.com/travel...k/public/en_gb
"Baggage allowances on codeshare, oneworld and alliance partners may differ. Charges may apply" (as you suspected) If you fly BA metal to SIN and then QF SIN-MEL then BA will allow their baggage allowance and QF will accept it for the interline at SIN; however on the return trip, check-in at MEL, you will be faced with the QF limit and charges for any excess. Unfortunately Oneworld doesn't offer any baggage benefits in this regard (status or otherwise). |
Ok thanks for that!
Will save the money and probably fly Thai |
