I would start by reading the sticky at the top of this forum.

You can also read the published rules on the oneworld website.

Fares vary primarily based on where you start from, rather than who you buy the ticket from. The airlines do determine taxes/fuel surcharges differently, so there is usually some advantage to having a particular airline issue the ticket (say AA, rather than BA or QF).

If you provide some indication of where you want to go, you'll find lots of people around here willing to provide advice.

Variations on the same route will occur depending on which airline you buy from. buying from AA vs QF ( for example ) can lead to several hundred dollars savings.

The other variation can occur depending on where you wish to start the trip; assuming you have a set starting point, then just pick the airline with lowest fuel fines to get it ticketed

Vagaries of pricing and fluctuations in exchange rates have had OWers variously flocking to Mauritius, Korea, Indonesia, S.Africa and briefly even Japan.

Air fares never keep up with falling exchange rates.

Lots more useful information on this board.

Welcome to FT Scottish Traveller

As already suggested, reading the sticky and fare rules are good starting points

as is downloading Sagy's excellent spreadsheet

Afer you have downloaded it, use the buttons to update all the fares and exchange rates.

Of course here in the One World forum we tend to think only of the RTW fares offered by OW airlines
You might want to also look at the offerings from Star Alliance and Sky Team and if you are only looking at a fairly simple itinerary, then single airline RTW or 2-airline joint RTW fares might be best for you

Enjoy the delving into possibilities:p
