Ticketing LONE3 with malev?
Hello - wonder if anyone on the board can offer any wisdom:
Was looking at the following LONE3 schedule: LHR-GCM-MIA-LAS-LAX-SFO, YVR-NRT-MNL-HKG-BKK-SIN-LHR I noted however that if I route my flights to start from Hungary I save GBP200 on the ticket price arbitrage and if I ticket with Malev I can save GBP250 on the fuel surcharge. I was thinking of using this saving to upgrade to PE on the SIN-LHR flight on QF9. Is there any disadvantage to issuing this type of ticket with Malev? I'm a BA gold if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance. Plastik. |
There is no disadvantage other than the inconvenience in ticketing and cost of traveling LHR-BUD to commence the LONE3 ex-BUD. MA is difficult to deal with for complex ticketing (they aren't used to it) so you may have to use a travel agent in BUD though there is likely to be a Hungarian TA in London who can arrange things for you (maybe even be able to issue MA ticket with LHR origination). With e-tickets future changes to the ticket should be equally easy no matter which Oneworld airline issued it (in theory, sadly not in practice); keep a printed record of the e-ticket including tax construction with you when you travel.

So unless you actually fly with MA as your first transatlantic segment, its gonna be hard to get it priced properly. |
