AONE4 need to book soon
I have a business trip coming up leaving from PHX I was about to book PHX-SFO-HKG-BKK-HKG-SFO-PHX with CX in I price for this trip would be around $6K. The same week I discovered one AONE tickets and felt a sudden urge to take a couple of days off and go around the world, flying in the A380 first class, going to CDG for a couple days to see my familly etc.
The following is the itenarary I came with What can be improve knowing the following: -I need to be in BKK from 05/01 in the am (meeting all day) to 05/06 in the PM (meeting all day) -I need to spend 3 days in CDG -I need/want to do Quantas 380 first/suites (either SYD-LHR or SYD-LAX). -I want as many true A/first class flight as possible -I can only take from the 04/27 in the PM (work all day) to the 05/09 or 05/10 to complete this trip. -Which product would choose between QX and BA in A on long haul? Couple of questions: have you tried plugging this in to the One World Itinerary interactive site? You can book it all right there, but I'm wondering with your fairly imminent dates and desire for particular flights, will there be availability? And second, do you care about maximizing EQP, or is that not important?
I'm sure the same great FTers that helped me will be chiming in ;) |
this comes from the oneworld interactive site (Book now print out)
not what EQP stands for I am just trying to achieve as many TP on BA as possible while still enjoying trying other good/better product. |

not what EQP stands for I am just trying to achieve as many TP on BA as possible while still enjoying trying other good/better product. If status in the BAEC is your goal, then you also need four BA-metal flights per tier (Blue > Silver, Silver > Gold) and your itinerary only has four, so if you want to max out TPs (and need a two status tier bump) you'll also need to fly more BA segments once your TP total has reset to nil after the first tier has been achieved. (Hope that makes sense.) In any event, you might plug something like this into your schedule to see if it could be made to work: PHX AA ORD BA LHR BA CDG BA LHR BA BKK JL NRT JL SIN QF SYD QF JFK CX YVR AA DFW AA PHX. The reasoning behind this is (a) lots more tier points; (b) A380 on Qantas (no "U") on SIN-SYD; (c) try out CX F from JFK to YVR; and most importantly (d) by starting out on AA metal AA issues the ticket. You will save (guessing) around $1000 by not paying the BA fuel surcharges that would be added if BA issues the ticket. Iterations and refinements are numerous. |
Some options for you to consider:
You can fly LHR-SIN on QF for the A380, then you'll need to get SIN-BKK on RJ direct or on CX via HKG. This can increase your chance of getting on this aircraft. Similarly, you can get back to SIN from BKK to hop on the A380 to continue onto SYD. Alternatively, you can fly CDG-HKG on CX on F, rather than going back to LHR. |

Try to get on CX for the longhauls
Based on my recent F experiences across OW, I'd recommend you try to take CX or QF (non-380) for the F experience and if you need to add segments to make your 4 BA flights, do a quick LHR-MAN-LHR or some other set of shorthaul flights to get your status. Eurocheat with BA will also help you get to Gold much faster (and definately within the trip you've proposed).
Lately BA has been a bit of a letdown with their F product and service. If you're going to do an AONE4, you should be able to sample the F product from all the major carriers (BA, CX, QF, JL, AA) which I would highly recommend as you probably won't get the chance to do so again unless the AONE becomes a regular habit...it can happen as I've now switched to ACIRC22&26 rather than DCIRC's |
after hours of shifting thingd around and extending my trip I came with the following:
Phoenix, AZ to London Friday, April 23, 2010 Departure: 19:25 Phoenix, AZ, USA - Sky Harbor International Arrival: 13:10 +1 day(s) London, United Kingdom - Heathrow Airline: British Airways BA288 E Boeing 747-400 Fare type: First London to Paris Saturday, April 24, 2010 Departure: 17:00 London, United Kingdom - Heathrow Arrival: 19:15 Paris, France - Charles De Gaulle Airline: British Airways BA322 E Airbus Industrie A320-100/200 Fare type: Business Paris to London Wednesday, April 28, 2010 Departure: 07:35 Paris, France - Charles De Gaulle Arrival: 07:55 London, United Kingdom - Heathrow Airline: British Airways BA303 E Boeing 767-200/300 Fare type: Business London to Singapore Wednesday, April 28, 2010 Departure: 12:05 London, United Kingdom - Heathrow Arrival: 08:00 +1 day(s) Singapore, Singapore - Changi Airline: Qantas Airways QF32 E Airbus Industrie A380-800 Fare type: First Singapore to Hong Kong Thursday, April 29, 2010 Departure: 11:00 Singapore, Singapore - Changi Arrival: 14:55 Hong Kong, Hong Kong (SAR of China) - Hong Kong International Airline: Cathay Pacific CX714 E Boeing 777-200/300 Fare type: Business Hong Kong to Osaka Friday, April 30, 2010 Departure: 10:05 Hong Kong, Hong Kong (SAR of China) - Hong Kong International Arrival: 14:45 Osaka, Japan - Kansai International Airline: Cathay Pacific CX506 E Boeing 747-400 Fare type: First Osaka to Bangkok Saturday, May 01, 2010 Departure: 18:30 Osaka, Japan - Kansai International Arrival: 22:25 Bangkok, Thailand - Suvarnabhumi International Airline: Japan Airlines JL727 E Boeing 767-200/300 Fare type: Business Bangkok to Sydney Friday, May 07, 2010 Departure: 18:10 Bangkok, Thailand - Suvarnabhumi International Arrival: 06:05 +1 day(s) Sydney, Australia - Kingsford Smith Airline: British Airways BA9 E Boeing 747-400 Fare type: First Sydney to Phoenix, AZ Sunday, May 09, 2010 Departure: 13:05 Sydney, Australia - Kingsford Smith Arrival: 09:45 Los Angeles, CA, USA - Los Angeles International Airline: Qantas Airways QF11 E Airbus Industrie A380-800 Fare type: First Change of plane required. Time between flights = 3:00. Sunday, May 09, 2010 Departure: 12:45 Los Angeles, CA, USA - Los Angeles International Arrival: 17:50 Dallas, TX, USA - Dallas Ft Worth Airline: American Airlines AA1072 E MC Donnell Douglas MD-80 All Series Fare type: First Change of plane required. Time between flights = 1:10. Sunday, May 09, 2010 Departure: 19:00 Dallas, TX, USA - Dallas Ft Worth Arrival: 19:30 Phoenix, AZ, USA - Sky Harbor International Airline: American Airlines AA2047 E MC Donnell Douglas MD-83 Fare type: First starting AA metal was a $500 saving and would not fit my schedule, and also would make me take the 777 vs 747. With this itinerary I get 2 BA in A, 2 QF (380) in A and one CX in A, the maximum I could come up with my schedule. Any comments on how to make this AONE even better? |
