Upgrading one BA sector on a DONE3 ticket.

I will be travelling on a round the world ticket in business class, booked in D inventory. I need all my flight sectors to be credited to my AA account to requalify for elite status with AA. I have enough BA miles to upgrade (15K) from business to first, what is the procedure to process the upgrade? I don't want the miles to be credited to my BA FF account. Is it worth upgrading on a 777 from business class to first class?

Thanks.

See, e.g., this thread. You should also check out the BA board's upgrade guide and ultimate ba guide.
Regarding miles credit see this thread and the link within.

I see you have also cross-posted this on the BA board that is probably a better place for it. In that thread you state that this is a transatlantic BA flight, if it is from the US to LHR you cannot credit the flight to AA.

Cross-posting is frowned upon on FT. Please answer the OPs questions in the other thread kindly linked by jerry a. laska
