Rerouting LONE3
 

I'm currently in the middle of my first RTW itinerary and have found it to be excellent so far. A big thank you to FT and all of the helpful posts in this forum, which have been invaluable in educating me on the ticket!

One question - I'm currently trying to change the departure date on a leg from SFO-HKG on CX (currently scheduled for mid-Jan to a departure in early-Jan). I was under the impression I could do this as long as there was Y availability on the flight, but in talking to the AA RTW desk today it appears I can only get onto a flight which has L availability. As most of the CX flights are full in L through mid-Jan, are there other options to get back to Asia creatively, given RTW's flexibility?

Any tips are appreciated.

The L bit in LONE3 says that it books in L. If there's no L availability then you can't use it. All CX transpacs seem to be pretty full in early January. If you have spare segments then look at rerouting via NRT on JL - a few sample dates in early January showed L availability on JL1 (SFO-NRT).
