Changing a RTW Ticket

Took advantage of the 10% off One World RTW promo and booked last week. But now mexicana has joined OW which means I can fly San Jose to Cancun direct instead of flying through the dreadful Miami.

Has anyone had the experience of changing their RTW ticket? This is not a date change but a complete routing change. Issuer is Qantas.

ISTR a situation when other airlines joined oneworld that the new member carriers were not valid on the old ticket.

A complete rebooking and repricing was required.

This would be due to the rules (say for an xONEx) at the time of purchase stating:

Fares only apply on any AA/AY/BA/CX/IB/JC/JL/JO/KA/LA/LP/MA/NU/QF/RJ/XL/4M flights.

That's right - happened when JL, MA, and RJ joined and EI left. Only the airlines permitted as of ticket issue date were allowed, even if they'd left the alliance in the meantime.

Agreed - you can't include MX on a ticket purchased prior to them joiningg oneworld.
