LON-ORK on a OneWorld Carrier?
Hello everyone,
The credit crunch has hit the LON-ORK route, and I am majorly struggling to find a Friday night out, Sunday night back flight with a OneWorld carrier even when considering a stop along the way. However, I do have a challenge with stops along the way because realistically, I can't get to the airport any earlier than 5.30/6pm on the Friday night. I'm trying to book a flight for a weekend in October, and can't bring myself to pay close to £100 to fly on Ryanair, or £150 to fly with Aerlingus. Seriously! Am I going to have to paddle to Ireland? Any creative suggestions are hugely welcome :) Thanks in advice for your worldly flying advice! |
ORK is not a oneworld kinda place. It's not really an alliance kinda place either. You're out of luck.
LON-ORK for £100-150 doesn't seem outrageous for a weekend itinerary. Ryanair will have a random sale between now and October - and the price will fall. Aer Lingus' prices may fall accordingly. |
I think I'd rather pay the extra GBP50 and go with EI - I'd at least get some token miles to my BA Executive Club account and it'd be out of LHR instead of somewhere further away..
BA/CX/QF are the only oneworld airlines that EI Gold Circle still have an agreement with but as GoldCircle said, oneworld doesn't go to ORK anymore. |
Thanks for the advice GoldCircle and Jaxba.
Jaxba, I thought Qantas FF no longer credited Aer Lingus flights which is why I was reticent about paying extra to fly with them. Thanks for the heads up!! I'm booking with them as we speak! ^ |
The EI partners credit only against a very very limited selection of fare classes, and most EI fares up to about 3 weeks in advance fall in to this catergory - be warned and do your homework! It's not immediately obvious how to find the fare class on aerlingus.com so heres their instruction:

Thanks GoldCircle, I'll keep an eye out for this when booking!
