Low Tax and charges to NZ

Hi
Is London the best airport (in Europe) to fly to New Zealand, or is there a route that is much cheaper due to lower taxes?

Taxes ex uk are high. But fare is more important. Pre covid stockholm was a good place to originate.

Yes, there are many airports in the EU with lower departure taxes. However, London has a lot of demand so pretty low fares. In the end it's not the taxes but the tax inclusive fare that matters. Look at some search websites that allow you to look at multiple departure airports at once to see what deals are out there.

Most, but not all UK, airports have a APD. Is high for business/first class, but less to for economy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Passenger_Duty
The APD does not apply to flights from INV, Inverness, Scotland.
Dublin, DUB is not part of the UK, so does not the APD. France also a similar, but lower tax. Australia has a $60 departure tax, hidden in air fares.
As above taxes are just part of an air fare.

Or are you confusing airline carrier award surcharges with real govt taxes, given the thread title? Many people do.

Edit
30 Sept 2021-->New Zealand doubles tax on airline passengers

Google flights still works a treat - multiple orig/destination combos easily visualised, all in the currency of your choice

Want to throw out a month of travel and duration of stay just to give us something to work with?
