Mel transit, Can I do this?

Can I do this?
I have a flight from DPS to AKL via MEL. After arriving MEL from QF46, can I go through transit to QANTAS lounge for a shower and back to arrival gate through tansit security and go through immigration into Australia for a day trip in Melbourne. In the evening, I will be boarding QF155 to AKL. I have a multiple entry Australia visa. Your advise is much appreciated.

What status or ticket do you have that gives your lounge access?

I'm not sure what the method is to leave the departure lounge in the international terminal. I've never seen an signs, etc to do this, and it is very unusual... but seems like there should be a way.

Another option would be to enter Australia and walk to the Qantas domestic terminal. Assuming your status allows access to the Qantas domestic lounge (I would assume it does), then you can go through the much simpler domestic security (no onward ticket required), and shower there. Then you don't have to deal with immigration/customs twice.

In a word---> "No" Will be difficult.
Same question was asked here. Look at posts 165 to 167 in this thread--->Airport info MELBOURNE (MEL) - amenities, transfers, transport

Makes it even harder to get back to arrivals - (1) it may be unmanned and (2) they won't take kindly to being called out for someone not actually connecting to an international departure.
As above, if you have OW sapphire/emerald status or business class you should be able to access the QF club in the domestic part of the airport. Have your boarding passes/ff card available.

Leaving Int departures/airside can be done in exceptional situations and escort is required. Also checked baggage would have to be located and removed. CBD sightseeing trip is not an exceptional situation. Do what others suggested...

Thanks for the reply. I have business class on both flights and am an AA plat. Can I still access QF domestic lounge as an arrival lounge, even though I have no Australia domestic flight at all?

As this thread is about QF I will ask moderators to move to the QF forum.

As a OW sapphire with an onward ticket from your airport, especially in J, I can't imagine being denied at the QF lounge. Definitely check for confirmation here, but I think you'll be fine.

And just to answer a question that hasn't yet been asked, Australian domestic terminals do not require a boarding pass to access the airside area, so even though you don't have a boarding pass for that terminal you will have no issues physically making your way to the domestic lounge.
