Hertz or Avis car rental in Queenstown, NZ
 

We're going to Queenstown, NZ in Feb 2019, and looking to book our car rental from either Hertz or Avis. Any reason to choose one over the other? We definitely want as little headache as possible, and our priorities are a good quality automatic car, reliable road side assistance, and ability to buy zero liability protection.

I believe these two companies are equal competitors in the marketplace and offer quite similar products.

Both should be able to guarantee you an automatic car. I've rented with Hertz at ZQN and the car was quite new and nice (although, I reserved and got a manual). I don't bother with extra liability and have never needed roadside assistance, but I'm quite sure both will offer this. I'd base my decision on price, just making sure you cost out any extras.
