Auckland arrivals from UK via Dubai

We are flying to Auckland with Emirates is it possible to buy duty free (champagne) on arrival at the airport or would it be better to buy in Manchester or Dubai. Just thinking it would be easier.

You can definitely buy on arrival in Auckland airport

whether that’s a good idea is another question entirely

Thank you but why might this not be a good idea?

Because NZ retail is often cheaper than duty free store pricing. Depending on what it is specifically, it may be *much* cheaper to simply buy retail.

Not worth the hassle. The price isn't different enough. Especially if you arrive with a large Emirates plane, better to get in the queue as quickly as you can before it gets too long.

I think it would be cheapest to buy in Manchester, probably in a supermarket when they are having a sale, but then it involves careful packing in your checked luggage. If it's a gift for someone in NZ and only one bottle, Manchester airport, if lots of bottles required, buy in Auckland city.

Thanks for your advice
