Unanswerable question.
Average spend per day? Per week? Per flight? Per hotel? Per meal? Business trip? Holiday?

And
Locations? Australia is large. Costs $ to get between major cities/areas.
Style of travel (5 star or backpacker)?
Activities?

If going to Australia (and NZ) soon, it is a bit late to be trying to work out your $$ budget.
Is more expensive than USA. But tipping is not common or usually expected.

For what?

Food?

Food + spending money?

Food + spending money + hotel?

Food + spending money + hotel + transport?

Food + spending money + hotel + transport + activities?

Food + spending money + hotel + transport + activities + tours?

Food + spending money + hotel + transport + activities + tours + souvenirs?

Food + spending money + hotel + transport + activities + tours + souvenirs + SIM/Data?

Food + spending money + hotel + transport + activities + tours + souvenirs + SIM/Data + beer for all your new mates?

Also include types of food (e.g. fast, high-end), number of meals per diem, what you intend to buy, type of accommodation, types of activities you'll be doing, types of tours you might go on... And where in Australia you'll be staying.

This will help give more accurate costs.

Thank you.

Too much lol But really it just depends on whether you can spend within your means.

Rural or regional towns tend to be cheaper when it comes to pub meals, but the price of fuel when on a road trip can increase the more remote you go. Cities generally have a huge competition on accomodation options, so you can book anything from the YHA hostels to Sydney's five star Shangri-La suite.

A more direct answer to your question, without knowing any more information than the little you've given us: the cost of living in Australia is relatively high with the likes of Melbourne and Sydney about on par, I reckon, with London, New York and Scandinavian cities. But there are cheap ways to get about, eat and sleep when you do a bit of research.

Huh.

I actually think he wants to know how much time you spend sleeping in Australia. On Average.

Edit: In terms of days, Ive ranged from a low of 27 hours up to 30 days. ex USA.
