New Zealand Trailer (Drone)

Hello travel community

I arrived to my 100th country today and used the anniversary to finalize my first ever drone footage! Maybe it will be a little travel inspiration for some of you? =)

Castle Rock in New Zealand:

It was shot by my friend who is hiding in the bush next to me with his DJI Mavic drone. The location is the northern part of the Coromandel peninsula in New Zealand's North Island.

Not too many make it to that part of the country and the coromandel are mostly still used as a holiday or weekend retreat for the locals. But the little peak called Castle Rock as seen in the video is even unknown for many of them and was a great insider tip we received through hitchhiking! The little scramble to get to the top is totally worth the amazing views you will get.

If you ever make it to New Zealand, I can only highly recommend checking that place out. Just make sure you don't fly too far out with heavy winds so you don't end up trekking through the thick jungle for 5 hours to retrieve the crashed drone after it ran out of power!

I've been there. The other interesting thing about Coromandel is the gold mining, which is also little known and well hidden. Thames (the main town in that area) used to have a great bakery with some of the best chocolate cake but it wasn't the same the last time I visited. As you say it is prime bach country (as they call holiday houses).

In the South Island baches are often referred to as “cribs”.
