Perth Free and Easy for 2 Ladies

Hi! Guy!

I'm travelling to Perth together with my girl friend from 13th - 17th May 2011. It is first time to Perth and only 2 of us (ladies), we are quite worry to drive around Perth.

Our flight arriving Perth early morning at 0530 (13th May 2011), & our departure flight will be at 0630 (17th May 2011)

Will there be any problem for us to have airport transfer early morning / middle of night (dep) ?

As we do not drive during our trip, we will be sign up for the day tour as some of the tourist area is hard to travel by public transport .

Below as our draft itinerary, could someone recommend us if the tourist place can be reachable by public transport. In advance, thanks a lot!! :D

13th May 2011 - Arrive in Perth - Check in hotel (CBD) -
Join Wine Making Day Trip (10am - 5pm)
14th May 2011 - Kings Park, Freemantle Prison , Freemantle Market(Own Free and Easy)
15th May 2011 - Join Penguin Island/ Sea Lion / Dolphin Watch Day Trip
16th May 2011 - Join Pinnacle 4WD Day trip
17th May 2011 - Depart from Perth

Can someone also suggest me the day 2 itinerary?

Some would say nothing in Perth itself is worth a visit; most of the great areas are 200km or more away. Your itin is probably as good as it gets if you are constrained to tour Perth and not the rest of WA. Personally I would go to Margaret River for 2 days instead of the wine tour in Perth. As for taxis to the airport, they are always available as it is a good fare to/from the airport.

Make sure if you go to Penguin Island you're on a tour. Even though you can walk over the sandbar at low tide at high tide with the sea breeze in it can get dangerous. Last December 2 men drowned there. Other than that I think it'd be a great idea, that area has astounding natural beauty and wildlife considering it's so near the city. Hopefully you'll get to have a look at Carnac Island too, always big sea lions there. You won't get ashore though, too many tiger snakes.

As for transport from the airport you can take a taxi....or a taxi. There is a shuttle bus but it's slow, pricey and with the two of you, well just take the taxi.

Taxi from Airport

Dear Valve Bouncer / Number_6

Thanks for your feedback, as you have mentioned that taxi fare is cheaper than taking the shuttle bus. Can I know roughly how much will it cost from Perth International Airport to Northbridge area , need to take how long time to reach our destination?

As we will need to travel from hotel to Perth International Airport in early morning as my flight will depart at 0650, can I know how much is the surcharge for travelling by taxi before 5am??

Thx
Calista

Well it was about A$45 when I went from the international terminal to the train station on Wellington Street in 2007. The railway line forms the boundary between Northbridge and the city proper. With the vertical trajectory of prices in WA you probably won't get out of it for less than A$60. At that time of the morning I'd doubt it'd take much more than half an hour.
I'm sure you'll be able to find heaps of info on taxis on the Google.

I just returned from a week in Perth. I used the Perth Connect shuttle service from the airport to the CBD. Here is the website:
http://www.perthairportconnect.com.au/pac/index.php

The timetable shows times that would fit your arrival and your departure times.

Your itinerary sounds fine. I also did a day trip to see Wave Rock. It was about a 3 or 4 hour drive (one way) to get to Hyden, and I enjoyed seeing the rock.

Night Tour or Activities in Perth

Hi! Guys, Thanks for reply

As I will need to leave my Perth's hostel on 17/5/2011 at 2.45am, thinking of do not want to waste 1 night stay on 16/5/2011. Therefore, I will need to occupy myself with activities on 16/5/2011 night.

Would appreciate someone can suggest me what can I do during night time in Perth ? Activities or Tour?

As I aware that there is night cruiser to swan valley for vineyard dinner but unfortunately it only available during weekend.

If spending my night in Northbridge, will it be dangerous??

Appreciate your swift reply! Many thanks

Calista

Unfortunately there is not much to do in Perth over night especially on a Monday night. Northbridge can be a bit dodgy at some times.

The other option is you could head out to the Burswood casino complex. It is open 24 hours and is pretty safe. There are bars and a club inside the complex as well as the Casino itself. It is also on the way to the Airport.
