Thanks. Looks like I was a victim of Sydney daylight savings. Would've still been plenty of time - my preferred flight was called about 20 minutes after I got to the domestic lounge, and that included the holdup from the transfer desk being unattended for 10+ minutes after I arrived.

Hi Everyone - due to Cathay changing their schedule the CX103 now arrives in Cairns at 06.30 which is some 2 hours later than originally planned. We are connecting to Hamilton Island at 08.00 with Qantas, hold luggage will be involved (marked priority due to J class international flights).
Any opinions on whether this is a risky connection are appreciated. We are nervous due to there being only one HTI flight per day. |

Getting from the international arrivals to domestic departures in Cairns is quite quick and easy If that is the only flight to HTI, then not much choice on what you do, but would not expect 2 hours to be a problem. I would expect that you should be clear of customs well within 45 minutes and be at check in not much after that. even that then leaves 45 mins to get to check in and check in for flight |
[mod hat] As this is not just about QF I am moving this to the right forum. [/mod hat]

How does I-I connection at BNE work? I will be in ZQN and need to get to BNE for 00:55 flight to HKG on CX. Virgin Australia has Flight 119 arriving 11:05pm , which would be fantastic, allowing for a full day of skiing.
Is that enough time to do the II connection on two seperate tix? Do I have to clear AU immigration? Get bags? Change terminals? I assume I would have to get bags on separate tickets unless Virgin Australia will interline to CX or BNE has provisions to allow CX to get the bags for me? If it matters, BNE-HKG is J award, ZQN-BNE in Y unless I find a way to get cheap business award. |

On separate tickets with checked bags you will need to clear immigration, pick up bags, clear customs and then check in - all before check in closes for the onward flight. By the way, minimum connection times do not apply for separate tickets - all the risk of a misconnect is on you, not the airlines. |
Another consideration is that ZQN is a difficult airport (due to terrain and weather) so lots of delayed flights from there. Even if on time it is a tight connection given that checkin for CX generally closes at 60 min for J, so 50 min from arrival to clearing customs (I've had it take 20 min to taxi to gate and open the doors at BNE, which would cut it down to 30 min). Don't forget you need ETA or visa for Oz. For award tickets this is pretty high risk.

Ouch! I'm connecting to ord in cx F so it looks like I'll have to cut the skiing by a day and spend a day in bne.

I am planning a trip to experience LATAM and Qantas business class next year and the connecting time at AKL is 1:35. I do not plan to check a luggage. Is this enough transfer time?
LA800: SYD(11:00) - AKL (16:25) QF158: AKL (18:00) - MEL (20:15) |

LA800: SYD(11:00) - AKL (16:25) QF158: AKL (18:00) - MEL (20:15) You are relying on the LA being on time. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/LAN800 |

Separate tickets or both flights on 1 PNR/ticket?

If LA801 is (very?) late from SCL to AKL, they cancel the AKL-SYD-AKL segments. Better now with a new aircraft. Cancellations more common with the old B747. If LA800 is cancelled they put you on another airline SYD-AKL
