KL's New Economy Comfort

Doesn't sound like much to get excited about, but wonder if Elite Plus folks will get put in these seats anyways when Y is packed to the brim...

I would say there's a good chance of that. KLM always made an effort to seat NW Plats in the best coach seats available, which means the front of Y on most planes & on a F-100 next to the FA in the exit row. During climbout the KLM FA's often rearrange the pax at the front of Y to spread them out & give them as much space a possible.

It will be interesting to hear what actually happens!

So much for scoring those rare upgrades on KLM...!
I betcha they put NW Plats in this pile first, keeping the biz upgrades for the KL plats... (ok, they've REALLY earned it... but still.)

I am not so optimistic. In the days of NW and KL being good friends (before DL came into the picture), I felt KL was always nice to WP elites and treated them as FB elites. The one notable exception is the ability to buy-up an upgrade at the airport - you pay a set fee for UG your fare to a B or a Y, the price depending on your initial fare class, and then you use miles to UG to WBC. I found this VERY reasonable but unfortunately only available to FB elites. Ever since DL stepped in the programs have been diverging. E.g. DL does not offer UGs to FB elites on domestic flights. I'm not too optimistic about KL rushing to extend this benefit to SM members.
