Tips for Increasing Chances for an Op-UP
 

I am flying NRT->DTW this Thursday and the flight looks oversold in coach. What can I do increase my chances to get an op-up if they end up with more checked in passengers than coach seats?

-Be a Plat (you are so that's all good)
-Announce to the check-in agent you are willing to take an Op-Up
-Cross fingers.

If you are not an atheist, prayer is your best bet.

How do you know NRT-DTW is oversold in coach on Thursday? Hopefully not from the seating chart. That is irrelevant.

NW26 NRT-DTW on Thurs 9/17/09 currently shows: J3 C3 I1 Z1 Y9 B9 M9 Q9 T9 L9 H9 V4 K4

That flight is anything but oversold.

- RobOnLi thanks for the reality check, Yesterday seatcounter showed Y2 and some availability in I. I either checked the wrong date or something changed in the system.

I have received an op-up several times flying through NRT... each time, upon arriving at NRT on my connecting flight, there was a list at the end of the jetbridge with my name on it (and others) to see the agent standing there, who then handed me my new boarding pass for biz.
