Wow. I actually find this pretty shocking. Just learned non-elites get 1 free 50-lb bag from the U.S. to the UK (in my case, MSP - LHR). Between 50-70 lb is $150.

Of course, what they want you to do is check a second bag and pay the $100 r/trip. Which we may do, but I think I'm gonna go check TJ Maxx for a lighter suitcase. And wear my usual fisherman's vest with a million pockets, and cargo pants with similar, etc.

(Sheez. I haven't flown this route since '07, at which point I got two free checked bags, and the weight limit for each was 70 lbs.)

Yeah, yeah, I know, business is failing, they have to make money any way they can...but whatever genius thought such a punitive policy was a good way to attract customers needs to have his MBA examined.
