Thanks NW FT'ers, It's been fun ... Heading to CO now

Just wanted to post to all the awesome NW FT'ers out there that it's been great being on this board for the past few years. Learned so much, and was a pleasure even meeting a few of you. Of late, I've become totally frustrated with NW/DL (as many of us have) and finally decided to pull the trigger and move.

So, as of now I'm a CO elite (took less than 24 hours to match), and with their recent 2010 program enhancements (yes, real enhancements!) couldn't be happier. Will pop into this board now and then for nostalgia but for the most part will be floating over on CO.

1 flight left this year on NW metal and since I'll have status next year, may do a few, and of course burn the miles.

Thanks all!

So it looks like CO matched GE to GE. With their full EQM on any fare booked through any source, CO is tempting. I am going to wait until Oct/Nov to decide for sure. Part of the problem is switching to any other airline means a 2-3 hour drive to MSP for every trip, not just some of them, unfortunately.

But I can't agree with you more on your reasons to jump ship.

I'll jump to CO only if the following three statements are proved to be true.

(1) 100% RDM & EQM on any paid fare on UA & US.
(2) Earning on other partners is satisfactory (Not sth like Y, B fares only).
(3) I am, at least, allowed to purchase an annual E+ option on UA and credit the miles to CO, if not having free E+ access.

If so, CO's program will be nearly perfect.

Forgive me if it's a stupid question (I'm a newbie ) - and perhaps asked many times before - but how do you do this ?

I have currently approx 500K WP miles (WP/DL Elite) and don't know what to do !

You could get lucky - local news last night indicated EAU service will likely switch to Skywest (United) when Skywest underbid Mesaba 1.7 million to 2.3 million.

Being able to fly out of EAU was the major advantage NW had over me, but looks like that is no longer! As an added bonus, UA would operate a first flight out/last flight in schedule, which is much better for me than NW's current last-flight-at-7 PM schedule that makes it very difficult to get in from the west coast.

Would be nice if UA Top-Tier gave out unlimited upgrades, but I think with the stack of SWU's they hand out, it works out to be about the same.

i dont think that full elite credit comes from ANY source. You have to book on CO.com to get the full elite credit, however you will get the full mileage credit. Unless I miss my guess if you book through a corporate travel agent you only get 1/2 of the mileage for elite status

take a look here and check, then uncheck the "ticket purchased on CO.com" and then look at "elite qualification" miles - it drops in half.

I was (and still am ) plat on CO, although I will lose that next year. I did the switch to NW/DL and really it isnt all that worse than CO. Some NW planes are in rougher shape than COs. However I am at 95% upgrade, and that is MUCH better than CO. The DL/NW over wow factor presence in EWR is less than CO, but there is a Club (actually 2) in Term B and I can get to all the same places that I did on CO. I probably connect a bit more , but I was doing that most of the time on CO anyway

Time will tell on mile redemption, but I cant let my daily business travel affect that. BTW, there are plenty of CO "NonePass" haters out there as well

That's no longer true - CO is switching back to full credit on tickets booked anywhere.

CO must be on a roll these days. I'm really curious how much of a new influx of new elites they have these days.....

CO must have been taking a hit and losing business for them to change that back to any source. They were strident on that point for a few years

i probably would have stayed at CO (since I am EWR based) if they had changed it last year. NW isnt bad at all so i am staying here

To me it seems like CO is doing all the right things to retain and attract elites. DL is just DL. Generate as many fees as possible. Pull away the most important benefits, and then give them back, only if you fly a boatload more miles.

I think most of the top level flyers have switched over already, as the whole DL beancounter philosophy of business has been apparent to us NW folk since January.
