I messed up and did not show up for my award flight yesterday...any way to get the miles refunded or getting anything back?

According to JeffBob, the reason DL eliminated unlimited award changes for platinums was because people booked award tickets then never showed up, but called up after departure and requested that the miles be redeposited into their accounts.

So, that can definitely happen. You will have to pay a fee ($100 or $150?) but you should get your miles redeposited. And if they balk, have them look at the changes JeffBob made to the program early this year.

I think you can still get your miles back. less the change fee. Personally, I wish they would have let the plats keep the free changes, and just forfeited the miles in these types of situations. However, that's not the DL way.

+1 but we all know they lied to us and the real reason they took away that benefit was to give it to their new DM tier members.

No, they took it away because the beancounters thought it would generate an additional 80 million or so a year. I think the DM features were added to try and win some of the upper level elites back.

But it still was a takeaway and then giveback at a higher level.
