Continental flights with WP miles: How?

I've been trying to book an award seat with my Northwest miles for a friend in Romania to come over to the states. I can't find any 60,000 mile seats for the dates I need on the Northwest website but when checking Continental's, they have plenty of 60,000 mile seats available for those same dates. I'm still a relative neophyte in this area but I think it is possible to access those Continental award seats via my Northwest miles but can't figure out how to go about it. (I'm not considering Delta as they have exorbitant tax/fees charges for such itineraries.) A "Purchasing Award Seats on Partner Airlines" for Dummies would be highly appropriate here. Thanks for any help.

Try calling NW to see if you can pull up the CO award. You'll have to pay the booking fee but that may be the one way if you can't pull it up on nwa.com, unfortunately. Also have you tried searching by airline on nwa.com and selecting "Continental Airlines"?

I didn't notice that you could select specific airlines. But I tried Continental and nothing came up. I guess I'll try calling. Thanks very much for the help.

I have purchased CO tix using WP's several times, and I've often had to call NW, and sometimes have them conference in CO as well. Be aware that NW's availability of award seats on CO is not identical to what CO will show on its web site. I understand, however, that the upgrade inventory is the same.

Just purchased a mixed nwa and co award ticket today. While I had to call in, it kept me in the saver category instead of paying double miles.

I see a ton of CO availability when I search on CO's website. Nothing shows up on NWA. Looks like we'll be needing the phone for award tickets on CO metal.
