Do Delta segments count?

Here's my dilemma...I am sitting on 99 segments for the year and need 1 more to re-qual for Platinum for 2009. The wife and I are ditching the kids for a weekend next month and want to go somewhere warmer than PA. We looked at Sacramento, simply because the fare was $159. The wife was considering ATL, but the flight she wants is on Delta. According to the NWA site, you can't earn segments on Delta (** Elite Qualifying Segments not applicable.). Does anyone know if anything has changed since the merger? I did a TTU but haven't heard back yet. Thanks

You will get EQM's and bonus, but NO SEGMENTS.

Check the routing and get at least one leg on NW or CO.

Be careful if booking a leg on CO. Only the more expensive fare classes count for EQS.

Segments don't count.

If you've been re-routed on Delta from NW flights earlier in the year you can always ask for credit from the originally ticketed segments.

I probably had 6 or 7 NW flights canceled this year- either FNT>DTW or vice versa or LAN>DTW or vice versa. Each time I opted to rent a car and just drive to FNT or LAN, or to DTW to catch my flight to PHL. Most were canceled due to mechanicals, one was due to weather. I tried to explain that and asked if they could make an exception and add a segment, but no such look they said that they were not making exceptions to the program at this time.

I was supposed to start a project in AZ next week which would have put me over the edge, but the project is now delayed until January.

Why not do PHL to MCO or RSW if you are looking for warm weather. Last time I looked the price for either was similar or less than to SMF with the benefit of having a shorter flight.
