Yes, where were we? So we're going in for uniform fittings. Delta wants us in their uniform by early '09.

Not true. Plus, Anderson and Bastian have been clear that a successful airline requires a positive relationship with motivated employees. While times will not always be good, I think the approach they're trying to take is different. I mean, look at the success the pilots have had. Do you think that is entirely the result of the union?

But, I guess you can keep on eating up that union crap they feed you. This is one benefit of years of horrid employee-management relations at NW: fear-mongering for new members to keep the pockets of the union officers padded.

C'mon you two, get a thread...

What can I say? I tried to get the thread back on topic.

Sorry, your union propaganda is based on distorted facts.

Can you tell us the last time NW flight attendants got a raise? Better yet, how about any represented flight attendants at a mainline, network carrier? Why should any employee wait 3-5 years for a new contract to get negotiated to get a raise or profit sharing?

Delta has stated (and demonstrated) that it will share its profits by bring its employee's wages up to market levels. It also offers a pension plan that continues to accrue benefits, which will provide greater benefit to future employees, not just the old ones who are long past retirement.

I don't believe this discussion has any relevance to a forum for NWA WorldPerks members, but to set the record straight, under the current contract NWA flight attendants recieve a 1% across the board increase in pay annually plus a step increase for longevity.

However, you failed to mention the fact that the 3% raise effective July 1 2008 still went into effect despite record fuel prices. The 3% raise was promised some time ago and yet they stuck to the promise despite the fuel situation (despite lots of union gossip that DL was going to quietly do away with the 3% raise and blame fuel).

Is DL doing all this to keep the AFA out? Hell yeah, but then again, it proves that the best weapon FAs (and other non-union DL employees) have to keep DL honest is the mere THREAT of unionization.

And to keep this thread somewhat on topic (about uniforms), those proposed new NW uniforms (particularly the grey ones) ironically look a lot like DL's old pre-Richard Tyler uniforms (the prison matron greys). :)

Actually, the younger DL FAs are mostly NOT for a union.
Unlike at just about every legacy carrier, DL newbie FAs actually aren't stuck in "Reserve" hell for years (as most newbies at other carriers generally are) - DL has this "A days" system where a certain percentage of the entire FA group (and not just the newbies, even those with more than 10-15 years of service) has a few "A days" (Reserve days) a month. Newbies actually get to hold trips, and since many newbies are based out of JFK (the most junior base), they also get to hold a lot of international flying.

From a passenger perspective, flying out of JFK on DL has at least one advantage in that you often get many fresh, eager, and unjaded FAs on both your domestic and international flights. Don't get me wrong - there are great senior FAs everywhere, but sometimes, the newbies' enthusiasm and attitude are truly fantastic and infectious...they're just thankful for having the chance to work a flight to Paris, for example...

Oops, sorry for going OT again...

Delta FA's with 'tude are realtively rare; they do seem to be a happier lot. I've encountered a couple grumpy ones in their regionals, but those jungle jets tend to make me grumpy, too.

Which other side is that? The only flight attendant presenting any views was NWAFA, who was belittled by another poster as offering "union propaganda is based on distorted facts".

This other poster, it should be noted, is not a flight attendant, is not (by his own repeated assertions) even the employee of any airline. He is merely stating his own third-party opinions.

Delta FA's recently voted down a union. My guess is the combined DL/NW FA's eventually will vote one in.

Adhering to the rigid Delta uniform standards...

'The waist of the pant shall not exceed 3X the inseam'... Hope those FAs pushing the standard don't work 757s.

On the subject of unionized Flight Attendants or not, we will never agree. There is no point in continuing the discussion on unions.

So, about those uniforms. :)

Thank you .... and what else can you tell us about those new uniforms? any color to them? I'm guessing not as striking as seeing a parade of KE flight attendants walking thru the terminal :p

I understand the wrap around red dress is pretty, but not the most practical to work in.
