Schedule changes - NWA.com vs Agent?
NWA has put in a minor schedule change for one of my flights in November
NW103 now leaves LHR at 0940 instead of 1010 and arrives in MSP at 1255PM instead of 120PM. Now I'm booked onto SFO on a flight which leaves at 506PM. With the new time change, I could legally catch the earlier flight at 220PM (which I couldn't before). NWA.com doesn't want to do the change for free, would an agent on the phone do this curtesy for me or am I suck with 5+ hours around MSP? |
Schedule changes - NWA.com vs Agent?
You can try your luck by the calling te NWA agent but i am pretty sure they don't let go any money :)
Let us know if you get through it. |
Definitely worth the call. Very reasonable request, that a couple of years ago would have been taken care of for you without question. More recently they've been a stickler for some "30-minute" or "60-minute" rule; can't remember which.

I believe it's 60 minutes. If your scheduled flight changes by more than 60 minutes, they will re-schedule/cancel for free. |
Well I phoned up and the agent had no trouble in doing the change, despite NWA.com not wanting to do it. It's nice to see NW are flexible in such cases. :)

When is your flight? I am seeing that 103 leaves LHR at 2:25 and arrives in MSP at 5:45. Through 25 October

There is one thing which worries me with the changes the agent put through.
On NWA.com I have the following under reservation Date: Wednesday, November 5 Flight: NW 369 Departs: Minneapolis/St. Paul-Int'l, MN (MSP) at 2:20PM Arrives: San Francisco-Int'l, CA (SFO) at 4:16PM Yet under the eticket receipt I still have NW 0357 MSP-SFO 05Nov2008 Is the fact that the two don't match likely to cause any problems or mix up my chances for EUA?? Essentially it looks like the reservation was changed but not the Eticket. |

I'm guessing that is the original receipt, for the credit card purchase. I've seen this come up, with schedule changes, ir-ops, etc. I presume you're flying what's in "My Reservations", no matter what the original purchase receipt says.

I have a world business class (Z) seat from EWR to TPE in October. Because of a schedule change (changed time of the EWR outbounad and cancellation of DTW-KIX, they put me on DTW-NRT), my transfer time at DTW changes from 64 minutes to 50 minutes. I am not comfortable with 50 minutes transfer time at DTW, especially out of EWR. I called NWA and asked if I could change my EWR outbound from 12:33pm to 9:01am to make sure I can make my connection at DTW. They said I had to pay a "fare differences" on the change which is more than $1000. She said that according to my orginal schedule, the flight out of EWR is only 3 minutes later than before and they can't change it for free for anything within an hour. I told her my issue is the transfer time which is 14 minutes less and she said she could not do anything about it as the "legal" transfer time at DTW is 30 minutes.
I thought this is just ridiculous. I was just trying to ensure my connection after they changed the flights on me. Isn't it to their benefit that I make my connection so they don't have to rebook me? I know that my flight from DTW to NRT in business booked solid. This is just a speculation. Maybe they will be happy if I miss the flight and they can avoid paying extra for involuntary bump... CJ |

I think you just got a bad agent. Perhaps you should use the old adage: If you don't get the answer you like, call again (rather than argue with an ignorant agent). |

You may have a problem checking in online. The eticket itinerary needs to match the reservation. It won't be a problem at the airport but it will prevent OLCI.
Do you think it will prevent OLCI and/or EUA?? |
