Return of NRT-TPE!!

So I've heard that NRT-TPE will return in August with 757 service, which is great....Us west coast people can go to TPE again without going thru DTW+KIX or HNL+KIX, plus my friends that go from MSP, can do with only one stop and avoid the awful KIX...

UA is dropping their NRT-TPE flight since they have SFO-TPE nonstop

Wow I hope so! UA is cancelling theirs so maybe that contributed to the decision. I just took BR last week to TPE after flying NW from MSP-NRT but those are basically wasted miles for me.

Wonderful news. So does that mean NW will switch NRT-PEK back to USA-PEK nonstop in order to free up the slot for TPE? I'm itching for that, especially considering that NW did a PHX-PEK nonstop a few days ago :D

WOW! Great news! I'll be sending Laura an e-mail today! I can't tell you with UA leaving, it's been impossible to get anything with connections to TPE lately... and the ANA codeshare out of NRT isn't recognized by UA coz of the holding company, which means no award tix ...

Well, something is not right. PEK-NRT flight sched has been changed 3X since Jan'08. It was NW12 (continuation to DTW), then changed to NW10 (continuation to HNL) and then NW30 (to NRT, but I suspect it merges with NW10 to HNL). NW30 is usually the PUS-NRT flight that codeshares with NW10 to HNL.

If they're phasing out PEK-NRT in favor of nonstop PEK-DTW for the Olympics, wouldn't that whack out the entire flight schedules for the TPac routes for pax going to USA west coast?

i hope that this flight comes back! it wasn't a huge problem when I lived on the east coast when I could fly DTW-KIX-TPE but now living in Seattle to get to TPE I havent a NW option (unless I fly SEA-HNL-KIX-TPE).. though i guess I could fly CI... shudder...

I remember someone on this board once talked about a rumor of SEA-PEK. If that happens, ^.

They are not dropping NRT-PEK, otherwise they'd be dropping a route authority for no good reason, as they could have flown DTW-PEK nonstop anyways.

I wonder if they are flying this by getting a slot on the newer runway. (less runway length=less desirable slots.)

My understanding is that NW has authority of 1x daily to PEK, originating from anywhere. So they are not dropping the authority if they originate the flight from US. Might be wrong though.

Maybe they are pulling back one of their cargo authorities?

That's another possibility, as we have read that NWA Cargo's status is in doubt.

As for PEK, I was thinking of PVG. NW has routes US-PEK x1 and US-PVG x1 currently, and is adding another frequency in 2009 to US-PVG with the new route authority (the nonstop DTW-PVG).

any confirmation on this?

So, any one heard anything more concrete on this return of NRT-TPE?
