Seating Question - Silver Elite
Hi everyone,
I am a (new) lowly silver elite. I just booked 4 tickets for myslef and 3 friends to travel from MSP to DEN in a few days. I got us in 19 A/B and 20 A/B. After booking, however, I noticed that up in coach choice, and in the exit rows, there are several seats open. Is it possible for me to move all of 4 of us up there, without incurring any of the Coach Choice fees, or am I limited to only bringing 1 person with me to Coach Choice? I believe that the answer to this question is that I can bring only 1 person with me if I moved up, but I wanted to check just in case. :) We're totally fine staying in 19 and 20, but I figured it was worth it to at least ask. Thanks! |
From one silver to another, I think it's just one companion in the same PNR. If you reserved separately, I don't think you can do it for anyone. I see you're also a UA elite - it's similar to the rules for premiers bringing a companion into E+, except that you don't get any more legroom in the preferred seats on NW.
Also - you can't get the Coach Choice seats until OLCI at 24:00 out from departure time, no matter what your status. So you'll need to be quick on the trigger to bag them. I know the seat maps at seatguru say that NW seat pitch is the same as UA in Economy Minus, but in my experience the NW coach seats on the 319/320 they usually fly on the DEN-MSP route have a bit more pitch than UA in E- on the same kind of bird. Not as good as E+, but reasonably comfortable in coach. At least it was yesterday on that route. |

UPDATE: So, it's 24 hours before my flght, and I wanted to post an update of my experience.
I did all of this on nwa.com under "manage my reservation" 1.) I was able to move all 3 of my friends to exit row seats. 2.) I was able to move myself to a Coach Choice seat Aparantly, as long as everyone was on the same PNR as me, I could move more than just 1 companion to an exit row seat. One thing to note - I could only move 1 person to a Coach Choice seat, and once I did that I would have had to pay $15 for any additional seats in Coach Choice. So the answer to my question of "For how many companions, as a silver elite, on the same PNR, can you select seats in exit row and coach choice?" is "at least 3 in an exit row, and 1 in coach choice". |
Were you offered a complimentary upgrade to first class?

If a silver or gold wants and upgrade they need to split the reservation, or maybe as at the gate. |
