A question on seating

Hi all,

So here I am, looking at the seatmap for a MCO-DTW flight in June ... and I notice that all the seats on row 9 of an A320 are all listed as occupied .... Plenty of other premium seats available, as well as the exit rows.

According to SeatGuru, row 9 is less than desirable, because it has limited recline. Am I missing something? Especially when row 5 is wide open, on top of the two exit rows.

Thanks for the insight. I'm a newbie when it comes to flying NW, so I'm wondering.

Cheers,

GenevaFlyer

You are not but many are. Most flyers are not FT'ers and few know to look at Seat Guru..or that it even exists.

Hi avid,

Thanks for the response. I can understand the lack of knowledge about SeatGuru ...

But this group of people continues to amaze me ... why not row 6 (wide open), or an exit row (11 is wide open)? To get row 9, they are elite members ... so they have access to all those.

Anyway, I'll just continue to be puzzled, but that's about it since I was able to snag 5D ...

Cheers,

Actually, row 9 seems to always be "blocked off," even months in advance. I think it's the same thing as row 1 always appearing full in FC, even though it often isn't (same for the very back rows, which I think NW holds back). So, I think it's less a not knowing about seatguru thing, than NW blocking certain seats to assign later.

row 9 is a z seat, or family seating, row 9 on the airbus A320 as well as the last row are set for people without sts to still get seats in advance, both are limited recline, but one is up front, and the other in back. So most go for row 9
