Was walking to the end of the D concourse yesterday and saw construction going on in what used to be the Duty Free Shop. Wonder if this will be the location for the WC and also whether NW plans to move its domestic gates to D or use some kind of D to C concourse shuttle.

Bus stops are being built in the C & D concourses so that AS/NW domestic connections can avoid going through security. Otherwise the unpredictability of the lines would force ridiculous connection times. |

I suppose if you define your life by what happened a couple of years ago before the local INS director got canned... then maybe this old news will guide you...

The Port of Portland ran a lobbying campaign last year to get ANA to run a Portland-Tokyo flight, soliciting non-binding estimates from local businesses of how much they would spend on PDX-NRT if we had a non-stop flight. ANA didn't bite, so the Port ran the campaign over again, this time directing it at Northwest, and Northwest agreed to do it. Portland used to be dominated by United, but United has let its Portland service run down, and NW's partner Alaska is now the largest or second-largest airline in PDX in terms of passengers. So it makes some sense for NW to come here.
I've booked a seat on the inaugural June 10 flight from PDX to NRT. Are any other FTers on the flight? |
