How do I get 8 segments cheap and quickly?
I want to run 8 NW segments as cheap as possible, preferably in a single day. What cities are typically cheap, with enough connecting cities to make it all happen in a single day? I'm starting in SEA if it matters.

One possibility: Looks like SEA-TPA can be had as low as $203 plus "fees" RT. Expedia will display various 4 segment routes in each direction. You will need to play with the dates and times to get what you want. Possibly start with an over-nite SEA-MSP segment and then finish the other 7 segments during the rest of the day ending up on an evening MSP-SEA segment.

Wow! Thanks so much! I got it! $354.80 all in. I could even have saved $102+ by taking a far worse schedule.
3/23/04 SEA-MSP-IND-MEM-TPA (1am-4:30pm) 3/24/04 TPA-DTW-IND-MSP-SEA (9:50am-6:58pm) If I wanted to do it tomorrow it would be $766.80! Thanks for the help! |
If you are planning to use segments as elite qualification the fare basis must allow segment qualification. Fares this low typically only allow qualification based upon miles.

I hope you are wrong this time. This isn't their standard offer. This special offer specifcally says "any paid... flight". The fine print later says the same thing.
Makes sense? "You have been selected for a special promotion that allows you to earn WorldPerks Elite status fast! Fly on any paid Northwest Airlines®- or Alaska Airlines-operated flight between March 1 and May 31, 2004 and you'll earn points, which can earn you Elite status. You'll be Elite in no time at all!" |
