Would this cause a problem/raise a flag?
 

Hypothetical situation...

One buys a ticket on Northwest from Chicago to JFK to visit family, and returns to Chicago from, let's say, Boston, where he has a job interview. Dates of travel are 10 Mar - 20 Mar.

He then buys a round-trip ticket on Delta from JFK to Boston, departing 19 Mar with a "scheduled" return leg of 25 Mar. Of course, he can't fly from Boston to New York on the 25th, because he's already returned to Chicago.

The WorldPerks Program's terms and conditions state that "we will investigate all accounts that we believe violate the...terms and conditions...that includes...throw away ticketing."

Is this a case of "throw-away ticketing," and if so, what is the likelihood that Northwest will throw a fit?

It might; I've done it and not been investigated, lost mileage or anything.

If I understand your question, it has nothing to do with NWA, its the Delta flight you are not taking.

If you don't care about your Delta FF miles you have nothing to worry about

Actually, it has everything to do with NWA. I was wondering if they'd throw a fit if they'd look back at the itinerary after WP miles have posted and say, "there's no way he would could have taken the return Delta flight from BOS-JFK."

The passenger booked a ticket with NWA. He took these flights as ticketed. End of story.

Are you really suggesting NWA would look at a Delta flight (Or even could) and determine he had an unused ticket?

If your question is would this cause a problem with your worldperks account than the answer is probably not.

If you are concerned about Delta, I really don't know, but I think Delta's REV MNGMT people are much more aggressive than NW's. I think you should read the rules for Delta since it does not really matter where you earn the miles it matters who you pay and who operates the flight.

For a one time occurance, don't worry even if you are crediting the miles to your WP account. As long as you don't do this regularly then you won't have a problem. I can't tell you how many times I was suppose to end my travels in Indy yet stopped in Cincy.

You're out of line here. Please don't stoop to name calling simply because you feel superior to somebody. This is a relatively friendly forum and we all try and keep it that way.

To the OP: I believe the Terms of Carriage for the ticket with DL might become sticky, but I've never had a problem any time I didn't use the return portion of either a NW or NW partner ticket.

I think the original poster meant if he credited the Delta flight to his NWA account. Like said above I don't think nwa would look @ delta passenger list. 2 things you could do.

1. Once you arrive @ the airport change the return flight to a Delta FF #

2. Book the return flight for when your are in BOS and check in on line and don't show up. If ever questions you got to the airport late and missed the flight and drive with a friend instead. You could even do that from home.

I think if you just don't even do anything with the return flight it wouldn't be a problem.

The first leg of the middle flight, though on Delta, would be credited to NW Worldperks. I suppose I could try to change the second portion of the itinerary to SkyMiles, since I don't care about that account anyway.
