Using Bump Vouchers question...
 

I've got about 900.00 (3x300) in bump vouchers that I'd like to use for some trips. One of the trips is about 465.00 (PD cert, Europe, non-direct routing). I don't wish to send in my vouchers to pay for it because of the routing so I will be forced to use the airport to purchase/ticket the itinerary. If I use 600.00 in vouchers, will they issue a refund of the other 135.00 in voucher form immediately, or do I have to wait for it to be processed? If I have to wait for it to be processed, I would prefer to use the 300.00 voucher + 165 cash to pay for the ticket. Can travel agents process vouchers if I am using a PD certificate?

If you pay for a $465 ticket with $600 in vouchers, they should immediately hand you an MCO for $135. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

What exactly is an MCO? I am assuming its a credit back that can be used towards purchase of future travel, but what's the difference between that and a travel voucher?

TCVs are transferable, MCOs are not.

I would suggest reading the Terms and Conditions closely on the TCV's. Some will allow a residual value and some don't - Also, soem TCV's i.e. TCV0450, do not permit them to be combined.

All in all it is hit or miss; but, best to read and know just what your expectations should be and how hard to push if shot down.

Don't know about the bump vouchers, but just wanted to mention that you shouldn't forget about your City ticket offices which are open during the day and may be less crowded (and often more accomodating of odd requests) than airports in my experience. You can find the addresses and hours here

thanks for the advice. unfortunately the CTO in DC is only open M-F from 8.30-5.30, so i would never be able to make it in as i work in bethesda, md.

It's very likely that you won't be able to use a PD coupon in conjunction with MCOs (credit vouchers). In the past the original fare usually is what is quoted and there's not a way to combine them. Every now and then it works, but if it goes to any rate department, it will be declined.

What about with at TCV?

Thanks for the ticket office link. I thought the only way to use my vouchers was to trudge to Hartsfield, et al.

lucky you. on continental, no residuals are given for travel vouchers. if you use a $300 travel voucher and the ticket is $100, rough nuts.

Fly Co, just out of curiousity...it seems by your name, that you were you all about CO when you started on FT, have you changed your mind and gone with NW? I've read a couple of your posts like the one above and the one in the MR forum regarding bumps & refunds of more expensive tickets, are you now a NW flier, or do you still support CO? just curious..i don't mean any offense or anything if it comes off that way...
