Codeshare.. What's the code?

Sorry for the silly question, but I've been searching for the answer and can't find it anywhere.

When searching for flights on NWA, how do you know if it is a codeshare with DL? Is there something in the flight # that tells you if it's actually operated by DL? Do they do codesharing between MSP and ATL?

Thanks.

A number of ways; but the easiest is that it will say operated by Delta or operated by Continental. If nothing there or does not have a 6000, 7000, 8000, 5000 type flight number - then it is operated by Northwest Airlines (www.nwa.com), a version of the above would be applicable if booked at delta.com, co.com, etc.

Besides the flight number, another way is to glance in the System Timetable (download at NWA.com). If the equipment is shown as 320, DC9, etc, it is a NW operated flight. If "AIR" is shown, it is a codeshare flight. Looking at the current timetable for MSP-ATL shows several DL flights numbered #89xx with AIR, and several NW flights with #1500 or less and specific aircraft identified.

Thanks much. I didn't see "operated by DL or CO" as I typically do for KLM or Mesaba, so I got worried that they buried it somewhere for CO and DL and I'd get stuck on a DL flight. Using the logic you provided above, it looks like it's NW metal.

thanks!
