Need Help getting to Sweeden

I am looking to go to Gothenburg Sweeden in December. I am finding it difficult to find cheap fares out of Phoenix. I was wondering if anyone who enjoys to find cheap fares could come up with one for me. The dates are not flexible, thats the only problem. I plan on leaving December 24th or 25th, and returning no later than January 1st. I need to be in Phoenix by January 2.

My prefered airline would be NW or CO, but would fly any at this point.

Thanks everyone.

Gothenberg, Sweden is not far from Copenhagen. This might be an alternative airport for you. Obviously SAS flies there as well as most major international carriers. You might check the SAS website to see whether this is a feasability. Otherwise connections are made through the British Isles or continental Europe unless there is a non-stop from an American gateway. Over the pole is the quickest.

Another idea would be to fly to London and then use Ryanair to get to Gothenburg (Goteborg).

www.ryanair.com

Or fly to/near Newcastle, UK and take the DFDS ferry boat overnight to Gothenburg.

If you fly to Copenhagen then, CPH itself has train service to Gothenburg, it takes about 4 hours. You may have to change at Malmo, but the airport is on the line between central Copenhagen and the bridge to Sweden.

I always fly NW/KL to Sweden I think if you just try changing the dates you will be lucky. Of course you can always go with SAS who also has good last-minute fare rules but am assuming you want to use NW as you posted on NW forum. Sometimes CO offers cheap flights to Europe, try for instance Brussels, you can then buy a separate ticket on Virgin Express/Malmo Aviation. (www.virginexpress.com)
Or try getting a cheap NW to AMS and buy a separate ticket on SAS.
But I think all the hassle of switching around is probably not worth the little you will be saving.

In my own experience, having lived on both sides of the Atlantic, in a situation like this when the composite fare comes up ridiculously high, you can often save a lot of money by buying two tickets to/from a major gateway either in the US (say, New York) or Europe (say, London). Usually your travel agent can put all coupons in the same ticket book so that you're protected if there's a misconnection.
