Targeted Elite Requalification

Got a targeted letter from Beth giving 3 options to requalify Platinum. Option 1 is to fly 8 F,P,J,C,Z,Y round trips. Option 2 to fly 10 RT in F,P,J,C,Z,Y,B. Option 3 is somewhat complicated with 7 RT's plus a WorldVacation or World Perk VIsa.

Anyone else get targeted?

Wiirachay Sep 18, 2003 6:13 pm

Also got one for gold requalification:

Fly 3 RTs on paid fares booked in F,P,J,C,Z, Y classes

OR

Fly 5 RTs on paid fares booked in F P J C Z Y B or M classes

OR

Buy a Hawaii World Vacations package

OR

My personal option: Pay $150 to do a mileage run (BUF-DTW-IAH-MCO-IAH-DTW-BUF) around the US to requalify as a genuine gold. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Wiirachay, did you leave a connection or two out? This only adds up to 4888 miles roundtrip according to my calculations.

Isn't Option 2 Option 1 with more flights (except for B fares)?

Either way, that is a lot of flying in a few months. If you need to fly that much shouldn't you be Platinum by now anyway?

Why did you get targeted? Were you not going to make the elite level?

And who would want to go to BUF?

Yes! My 15 year old daughter got one saying that if she flew so many trips, etc., she'd make silver! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif LMAO!

Wiirachay Sep 20, 2003 9:03 am

Can you post the requirements for silver? My father is feeling really bad about losing his silver elite status. I told him that he rarely flies domestic (0-1 short round-trip/ year) and that I always upgrade him to WBC for int'l trips. He's still complaining. If the requirements aren't that bad, I'll probably let him fly between DTW and FNT on full-fare. (He hasn't received a letter yet.)

Yeah. My BUF-MCO run would give me around 4,800 EQMs. Who wants to head to Buffalo? People like me for either mileage runs or cheap fares! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Fares are relatively cheap out of there.

Another good idea for low-cost MRs are East coast to LAX and back on the same day. Tomorrow I will be flying PHL-MSP-LAX-DTW-ATL at $318. Works from/to most East coast cities.

Getting back to the topic, how does flying 5000 miles requalify you for Plat? Unless you mean you are planning to take about 15 of these in which case you'd probably be better off taking a "real" trip ie international vacation?

I'll be between 5000-7500 miles short of requalifying for gold after taking all those "real" trips by the end of the year.

Wiirachay: when were you planning on making this MR? Can it be done as a single day trip? And lastly, are you interested in having a MR travel partner?

Wiirachay Sep 21, 2003 7:00 pm

Either Nov. or Dec.. Also hoping for sales during Thanksgiving break. Unfortunately this MR must be done in two days.

Also thinking of going to LAX for the weekend in December (provided the $200 RT fares are revived) and just visiting friends but not telling them the realy purpose of going. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Wiirachay: What dates price out at $150 ? All I can find are some weekends at $570.

Wiirachay Sep 22, 2003 1:21 am

Anywhere in Dec. However, you must leave from SYR or FNT -- NOT DTW.

I've been platinum for 3 years...will not even have 25k miles this year...I have resigned myself to getting the "1 level reduction" and going to gold next year(I confirmed with the elite line that they just lower you 1 status per year---although I don't think that is written in stone)...Hope to do some MR early next year while still platinum...So my plan is to do enough running next year to once again attain platimum status that will last until Feb of 2006.

I did NOT get any requalification offers.
