E-Cert Upgrade Questions
Hi folks. This is my first post on the NW board. I’m a CO Gold who flys 50% CO and 50% NW... I usually hang out in the CO forum, but had a question that I figured you folks could help me out with.
I got an e-certificate in the mail that offers certain priced flights to different zones in the country depending on the day you fly. For example, travel from Zone A to Zone C mid-week is $258. The certificate is valid through Feb 12 2004. I am looking at flights from SYR to SAN in mid-January. I’m starting to look around at what options are out there – and this one looks the best so far… I’ve got a few questions now… (I’ll probably be back for more as I get closer to making the plans). If I go on to NWA.com and search for availability, I’m looking at around $450 for a V booking class. If I enter the e-cert in, it shows me the same flights for about $300. It notes the booking class as V, but the fare next to it has a little star and notes saying “Promo Fare” I have seen nothing restricting upgrades regarding the use of this e-cert. It’s not in the fine print of the e-cert. My questions are: 1) I plan on being a CO Plat by the time this flight happens. Will I be eligible for an automatic upgrade on these flights? 2) Is my companion, a non-elite, eligible for a companion upgrade – or – can I use some of my CO miles to upgrade my companion to F? Seeing now since Oct 8, NW now allows even non-elites to use miles from V class to upgrade to F, I’d imagine this can be done. More info on NWA.COM regarding e-certs and promo fares Does anyone have some experience on this? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Does anyone have an extra certificate they aren’t going to use? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Sorry if this has been covered already… I did some searching and found nothing quite like what I’m asking. Thanks! [This message has been edited by syrwhizzy (edited 10-21-2003).] |
