rescheduling with discount codes
 

I used a Northwest Visa mileage discount code (6000 miles discount) to book an award ticket that I would now like to re-schedule. If I try to re-book the flight on-line the new booking does not include the discount and I have to pony up 6000 additional miles to make the change. The reservations desk tells me that these are one time use codes. Any ideas if it is possible to change my award ticket reservation with the mileage discount? Thanks

I have made this mistake before too. Research showed that the cert clearly states that once the cert is used it is considered used regardless of what happens in the future. You cannot reschedule without consuming the additional miles. Seems unfair, but these details are in the fine print. I no longer use a WP visa miles off certs unless I'm absolutely sure I will not need to change my itinerary voluntarily.

I used one of the WP Visa discount codes in August for a friend and was able to make changes on the reservation without losing the discount.

I used another one last month and lost the discount when I needed to make changes. They said they used to be able to protect the discount on the reissued ticket but not anymore.
