Confused about the WP visa reference bonus miles
 

Currently WP visa are offering 10000 bonus miles by applying for it. I want to refer one of my friends for it. However, when I get the reference form, it says that if I refer her, she can only get 5000 bonus miles and I can get 2500 bonus. Is this true? I called the WP visa service but got even confused---the CSR told me that I will get 0 bonus miles by refering my friend if she apply online.

Really confused!!! Anybody had some similar experience? Please let me know the truth about this application---I don't want to make a mistake by putting my friend for only 5000 bonus miles instead of 10000 because of the 2500 bonus miles I will get.

In exactly the same situation a few months ago, I referred a family member and we both got the maximum by being careful with the referral & application sequence:

1) The referrer must send the referral form (fax is most reliable) BEFORE the other party applies for a card.

2) Then, the new-card applicant is free to apply for ANY offer and will get the benefits promised in that offer. Just call and say you want the 10K deal; the 5K offer on the referral form is irrelevant because it's not the offer being applied for.
